It's hard for me to put into words the feelings I have watching these films. The collaboration between movement, sound, and beautiful imagery are inspirational, as well as taking the idea of "editorial" to a new level. I am excited about these projects and I have tremendous admiration for those who pull it off so well. Bon Duke is one of those people who's images drip with beauty.

Couture week in Paris is what I live for as a stylist. The true art of fashion, and the designers' ability to really play with their creativity and craftsmanship is what keeps me inspired.

Hands down the best collection so far...

The texture, flow, color, and progression was spot on. In my opinion, Mr. Valli emulated what couture is about. The collection was playful yet wearable and luxurious.

Well, here we are again.. the start of a new year. I can't help but be overly optimistic this year, seeing that there is a group of people that believe it is the last. 2011 was a year of tremendous growth for me, and I look forward to applying what I have learned and accomplished last year to this year.
January 1st, I was invited to an amazing get together by my dear friend JJ. The rainy 1st day of the year was spent eating homemade mac & cheese and playing pictionary... and ended poignantly with some short films done by Danny Gregory (also on my pictionary team)... a perfect ending to the first day of the year. Inspired and refreshed I am sharing my resolutions, as well as this video.

- Live in the present. I hope this year to recognize each day with it's challenges, laughter, creativity, nervousness, happiness, and not take anything for granted... I will not have any days or weeks that slip by.

I first ran across this designer last February at the Designer's Nest show in Copenhagen. Designer's Nest was one of my main purposes for attending Copenhagen Fashion Week... it is a showcase for student designers, and it is truly amazing.
Tanne Vinter is a 24 year old Danish designer who is conceptually brilliant and all her pieces are molded around the body. Her 2011 collection is called "Fragile Fetus". Enjoy.

I really loved this show for two reasons, 1) I loved the concept and thought it was executed VERY well, 2) it reminded me of my partner in crime in life, Christopher Ford.

I was greeted by drum repetition and a staff in a uniform of black leggings, cream sweatshirts and cadet hats.

The show was Americana 1940's teenage boy, boot camp (with an ever so slight punk twist) Soulland also offered a newspaper lookbook of the boys with an American flag in the backdrop in a Bruce Webber sort of way.

The accessories were spot on, and I swooned over the open-toed sandal bowling style shoe with white socks, white gloves, backpacks with felted wool blankets rolled up...

This collection started out with another 3D film! This one had a Wes Anderson meets David Lynch vibe, very cool and very twisted.

"The inspiration for our colours and qualities comes from oil paintings of forest floors and from the universe of Sill Leben paintings.

The prints are small and delicate and is an abstract interpretation of the forest floor throughout the day's various lights-moss-small bright flowers-withered leaves- earth."

I really enjoyed this show.

This collection felt like Kirsten Dunst in a Sofia Coppola film, however the venue may have played a role in the overall feeling because it was such a breathtaking room. The black mohair turtleneck with silk satin bows on the cuffs was a favorite of mine as well as the chiffon dresses with lace that came out mid-show. I thought the printed lame (this is one of those moments you wished you had an accent key) was overpowering and out of place.

The show was called "The Puppet Ghetto" this is from the program:

"Inspired by string puppets and artisic perfomances this colection brings us Stine Goya's interpretation on non-ordinary encounters. Shadows create illusions on the wall, the puppet ghetto has arrived and as the underworld steps out amongst us and screaming phantoms cry in the dark, we are transported into scenes of unceratainty and led in to a world unusual to the ordinarty and everyday"

Spon Diogo did really great wool coats with thick leather belts. The cuts were creative and very feminine. There was also a great lace top/leather skirt moment.

The show was great, however the girls had a lot of problems with there shoes falling off and it was distracting from the show.

David Andersen

David Andersens' show was really impressive. Not only was this is debut of his women's wear collection, it was shown with 3D glasses! It was held in a movie theater where at the beginning of the show was a short, very well put together, 3D film of the models dancing and moving in a homologous movement. (not to mention the music was great)

After the film was done, the models walked around the theater and then stood in front of the screen in a presentation style.

The jewelry was perfect. The clothes were dark, chic, and wearable. The leather belted bag was to die for. Congratulations David Andersen for a memorable show and beautiful collection!

In a nutshell, the references in this collection made no sense. You walked into the show with 2 ninjas with red flags standing guard at the door. When the show started they did some flips, got things going... and out came the Japanese inspired looks against a backdrop of an African sunset. The clothes felt a little sushi restaurant waiter to me.

Next thing you know, the African sunset turns into a black and white "artsy" film and we transitioned into the 1820's. There were high-wasted pants, ruffled shirts, shoes with heels and shoe buckles, leggings with riding boots, hats with goggles, and even a moment of a fencing helmet.

I think Alberto Naselli is extremely playful with his concepts. The accessories were really great, the Japanese style shoes were duck taped, which is something that is always okay in my book. It just felt a bit like a new manual driver... the transition was not smooth from theme to theme and it sort of jerked you.

Riccardo Tisci is a GENIUS. The couture collection feels very similar to the fall couture collection however the Japanese robot inspiration is glaring. The back of each dress... divine, the details...immaculate, the Philip Treacy headpieces... relevant. I'm completely in LOVE.

Chanel...

Wow, okay... not sure where to start. The collection style-wise was all over the place. The colors remained the same minus a few randoms like the purple, black, and peach sequin dress Stella was wearing... (look 52) and this random blue dress. I feel like Karl should have put these ladies in the Tuileries and sent them on an Easter egg hunt... that would have been fun... some chocolate Chanel bunnies? I mean throw so bunny ears on Kristen McMenamy in the closing look and call it day.

The overall feeling was whimsy with this twist of goth around looks 28-32 and then it turned a little Cher Horwitz from 37-40... and those 90's black chokers...

I have to say, the more I think about the collection I really like it, Karl, you're twisted.

Christian Dior:

Nailed it. Duh. I want to see the world through rose-colored Galliano glasses. Creating the collection as an homage to Rene Gruau was spectacular. The execution was flawless.

I enjoyed the concept of the white dress followed by the same dress in color, however some of the white dresses felt too bridal...

Armani Prive:

I don't get it. There, I said it. And I certainly don't understand his fascination with outer space themes! I mean come on, the "moon" collection and now this... I think the construction is beautiful but the concept is drab. I love that the first comments on Style.com are about who attended... and they wait... hold for it... quoted Jodi Foster! (because she IS a fashion icon after all, and Armani popped her fashion show cherry) And of course, they mention Gaga... ho hum...

Look 7 jacket is amazing, and as much I would love to shoot the Philip Treacy hats, they have totally been done, again and again. With that said... I'm more focused on the accessories that Armani didn't do! The sliced dressed felt like Viktor and Rolf but a watered-down version... To sum it up I will quote my nearest and dearest " Would someone PLEASE take the Amyl/Nitrate/Popper bottles away from Giorgio Armani" -CMF

Today was insane. The beautiful freak with homemade platform Nina Ricci inspired heels and orange sac handbag filled with a half-eaten sandwich and bottle of wine, was truly the highlight of the outdoor festivities. When he strolled up he went straight to closed door of Musee Rodin, and started banging on it screaming let me in.... and at the end of the show, when the doors re-opened... he wailed for John...

Usually these over-the-top spectacles are tired and expected, but the passion and almost sadness you felt from this guy was undeniable.

This German/Polish designer is on my radar. Based in Berlin, Dawid studied fashion under Vivienne Westwood and has worked for other greats as Sonia Rykiel, Alexis Mabille, Comme des Garcons....
